ABOUT THE PROPRIETOR

Prof. Edwin Ejoga Idu had his secondary education at Ujor Memorial College, Otukpo from 1982 -1987, where he was second best graduating student in Science. He proceeded to the University of Agriculture, Makurdi in 1989 to read Agricultural Economics and Extension and became a scholar at 200 Level. He graduated in 1995 with Second Class, Upper Division and because of his excellent academic performance was employed by the University. He had his Master of Science Degree (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the same university. He achieved a great feat in learning by finishing his PhD one year ahead of residency time.

He started his working career as a lecturer in the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Extension and Communication at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi in 2000 and later joined the University of Abuja in 2008, where he rose to the rank of Professor in 2019.

In Celebrating his Professorship in 2019, Prof. Idu told his guest, ‘I joined the university system as a lecturer at the age of 30 years (that was an advanced age for academics), but my determination did not leave me. I was determined to become a professor before I attained the age of 50. So I worked for double promotion and set a time and in 2019, one year to my 50 years anniversary celebration I became a professor of Agricultural Extension & communication.

He was the Head, Department Agricultural Economics (2016-2017) and later Head, Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology (2017-2019) and again head of Department (2025-till date) in University of Abuja.

He developed the concept of Cyber-extension in Nigeria into a viable application in 2007 that earned him the ASUU Research Grant AWARD in 2007.

In 2007 he was the first to win the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) Research Grant Award, from North Central Nigeria. In 2008 he attracted Step-B Project Grant to University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

He has over 60 scientific publications consisting of edited books, chapters in books and journal articles with regard to dissemination of innovation for development and growth in the real sectors of the economy and has handled many assignments for the Federal Government of Nigeria and International Organizations.

He has undergone many capacity development programmes including; International Training on ICT for Education and Sustainable Development. He has worked with a number of local and international organizations with over Twenty- Six of experiences that cut across Strategic information, Education and Communication Management. He has been involved with several international organizations and proffering solutions for growth and enabling shared prosperity.

He is passionate in inspiring young people to achieve greatness and developing the academic and entrepreneurial capacity of youth.

As the Proprietor of Leap and Lead International College, he Provides leadership, academic and administrative function to the College. Secure a financial base sufficient to allow the delivery of the College's mission, aims and objectives and provides leadership in assisting the school managment in the overall planning, organizing, and controlling of the activities of the College.
